Peter Street Mound

COMPLETED 2018

The property, located at the northeast corner of Peter Street and Hope Street, formerly housed a lumber yard and CP Railway warehouse. Redevelopment of the site in 1985, including demolition of the buildings, identified historic low-level radioactive waste.

The contaminated soil and construction debris were left in place within one of the original building foundations, covered with a PVC membrane and capped with approximately two feet of clay, topsoil and grass. The grassed mound is located beside the railway tracks
