In response to recent trends related to COVID-19, the Ontario government has announced the return to Step Two of its Roadmap to Reopen, with modifications. All Port Hope Area Initiative (PHAI) field activities currently underway in Port Hope and Port Granby will continue under Step Two and will follow the current public health guidance. However, there may be some impact to the labour force, as is being experienced province–wide with the surge in COVID-19 cases.PHAI work performed by Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) and its contractors adheres to strict COVID-19 protocols. While advancing the PHAI schedule is important, safety of both our workers and the public is our priority. We remind all members of the public, including residents at properties being cleaned up, to connect with us virtually or phone whenever possible, instead of in person, via [email protected], 905.885.0291 or through the contact information for your field liaison officer.CNL work is guided by the following principles during the pandemic:
- Employees continue to work remotely wherever possible.
- Fieldwork is assessed regularly to ensure it can be undertaken safely with protection for workers and the public.
CNL continues to adjust to provincial guidelines and public health requirements, while assessing the risks related to COVID-19. We urge everyone to follow the direction of public health officials including maintaining physical distancing, frequent hand washing, wearing face coverings, and any other directives as they evolve.
Please continue to take extra care to protect yourselves and your families during this pandemic.
Stay safe.
